Canada Water Campaign drafting constructive comments
on the consultation process
Work on MORI polling and a "WATERFRONT"
newspaper.
NOW WHAT
No response to our consultation proposals
A meeting called on 5th
December without consultation
The local planning aid advisor from the willowbrook
centre ignored
The local councillor, Derek Partridge not invited
Simon Hughes MP kept in the dark
No prior discussion on the Agenda or the tems of
reference for the meeting
Weve spent four months trying to build trust and
cooperation between the community and the council officers
involved . So it is frustrating to say the least that the
promises are already broken when we get down to planning the
first consultation meeting to plan the future course of
the discussions.
WHAT DO WE WANT
CWC ideas on consultation to be included on the agenda
for the meeting on the 5th
December
Specific budgets allocated for consultation (the
Elephant got £400,000)
Staff advising the community to be independent from
the Council
Our MP, local councillor and planning aid advisor to
be included in the process.
Southwark Council to take control over those employees
who continue to pay lip service to consultation.
Despite this, we will be there on 5 December, representing
the community campaign and fighting to protect Canada Water and
its surroundings. We are in discussions with the Council and
hopefully some of the issues may be resolvable before the meeting.
THE MEETING WILL BE AT 7.00 PM ON TUESDAY 5TH
DECEMBER AT THE ALFRED SALTER PRIMARY SCHOOL, QUEBEC WAY.
