Bulletin No. 20
This is nominally a Canada Water Campaign committee meeting but there are some major issues and observers are welcome.
The issues that will be most controversial are :
Daily Mail plan to build a Lorry Park on Roberts Close. The site is between two primary schools, next to Immaculate Conception church and the Stave Hill ecological site. The Canada Water Community Group have already agreed to fight the planning applications but a major community effort will be needed.
The owners of the Decathlon site intend to submit planning applications for an 18 storey office block on the site next to the Daily Mail and an 11 storey residential block on the site next to Wolfe Crescent. The developers have agreed to discuss the draft plans with CWC and some negotiating ability is likely . The sites do not touch directly on to Canada Water. We need to get negotiating guidelines so that we can fight for the best community solution.
CWC is being invited to participate in the Master Planning exercise which will set overall parameters for the development.
The meeting will be run to a fairly tight agenda but, although it is short notice, we did want to give as many people as possible the chance to be briefed on progress given that the issues are fairly major.
