Bulletin No. 22

HARMSWORTH QUAY
(Daily Mail Group Printworks)

Harmsworth Quay has sumbitted a series of planning applications to Southwark Council relating to a lorry park next to two primary schools and a church, a warehouse/office extension to the plant, changes to access times, etc. Southwark has postponed any decision until September. CWC prepared a note detailing its objections to these proposals for an earlier meeting. There is also a letter of objection. The more people who object the better, but objections need to be in as soon as possible to:

Adrian Dennis, Team Leader, Development Control, L.B.Southwark,
Council Offices, Portland Street, London, SE17 2ES

The following is an excerpt from the minutes of the Southwark Development Control Committee where the application was deferred:

Resolved:

  1. That the planning application be deferred so that:
    (a) the applicant may undertake more consultation with local residents with particular regard to the issues of the fencing, landscaping and security and
    (b) further consideration may be given to mitigating measures that might be part of a legal agreement

  2. That the planning application be bought back to committee in September 2001 for consideration
