Delegates from the Property Department of LBS will be attending MIPIM, the leading international property fair, which will be held in Cannes mid-March.
LBS sends delegates to MIPIM each year as it is the most efficient way of promoting development opportunities in the borough to other property professionals.
This year the department has generated over £30 million through the disposal of council property, and most of this has been sold to the development sector. This generation of capital is essential to the delivery of the councils capital works programme, which enables schools improvements, new facilities and so on.
The staff of the department are property professionals. Going to MIPIM not only helps to promote opportunities in the borough, but also to keep these property professionals in touch with developments in their field. This is essential if Southwark as a whole is to receive Best Value from the Property Department.
This year LBS will be promoting ten development partnerships, and as Canada Water has the highest profile it will be the major focus this year.
Material will be handed out at the fair with regard to Canada Water and the other sites. The material pertaining to Canada Water will be only a little more substantial than a business card. A copy of all material has been sent to David Brunskill, in his role as Canada Water Consultative Forum Chair and Chair of the Canada Water Campaign.
