Celebrating 100 Years of
the Labour Party
on a Thames riverboat cruise
***Jazz Band***
***Buffet meal***
***Tony Banks MP and Richard Balfe MEP as speakers***
Bank Holiday Sunday 2 May 1999 1pm to 5pm
We
sailed from Butler's Wharf, Tower Bridge aboard the MV Eltham,
owned and crewed by City Cruises of Rotherhithe. We enjoyed a
full buffet meal (chicken curry and a vegetarian curry -
collecting it meant we sailed past Rotherhithe a pleasurable four
times) - with wine - and music throughout the cruise from Swing
Dixie Five band. We sailed past include the Houses of Parliament,
the Millenium Dome, historic Greenwich and the Thames Barrier.
People brought their whole families from children under one to
parents over 70. All this was included in the price of the ticket
- just £25 and kids went free.
It was a great trip, a great atmosphere, great music,
good food and drink (a licensed bar too), and good company, and
the tickets and the raffle helped raise hundreds of pounds for
the Labour Party in Southwark and Bermondsey and in Rotherhithe.
