Rotherhithe and Surrey Docks Labour Party

October Branch Meeting:
Thursday 11th October 2001, 7.30pm

THREE SPECIAL GUESTS VISITING OUR OCTOBER BRANCH MEETING

THE NEW HEALTH BODY - SOUTHWARK PRIMARY CARE TRUST – CONSULTING YOU

The two Chief Executives of both North and South Southwark Primary Care Groups, Sarah Hanchet and Caroline Ashley, are coming to tell us about the NHS’s proposals to change dramatically the delivery of health services to each of us through a new Southwark Primary Care Trust.

Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) are designed to take over large amounts of work area health authorities and community health councils now do between them.

A new PCT for us will also cover ONLY Southwark (i.e not Lewisham and Lambeth), the idea being that will make it much more responsive to our local needs. Sarah and Caroline are in the forefront of the current consultation on these new and extremely important health bodies. The deadline for their consultation is 17th October so please come along and hear what they have to say. Question time will also be available.

WORRIED ABOUT ROTHERHITHE’S PARKS AND OPEN SPACES – LIKE RUSSIA DOCK WOODLAND?

Come and meet Southwark Council’s Labour Cabinet Member for Environment & Community Safety – Councillor John Friary. Whether it’s crime, the environment, or community safety, John is charged with implementing an improvement plan for Rotherhithe and wants to hear your views. He’ll be happy to answer questions from the floor too, so don’t keep it under your hat, so please come along at 7.30pm, Thursday, 11th October 2001 at Trinity Church Halls, Bryan Rd, off Rotherhithe Street, Rotherhithe. Cllr John Friary
