oil and gas statistics, including:
- quarterly surveys of
production, sales, costs and investment;
- calculation of oil and gas
production contribution to GDP and GDFCF;
- annual survey of investment
and exploration intentions;
- checking consistency of
engineers' predictions of production and recoverable
reserves;
- contributing to the annual
"Brown Book" report on activity in the
UK Continental Shelf;
- quarterly provision of data
looking back 10 years and looking forward 10 years for
individual fields as basis of forecast of likely UK tax
receipts;
- monitoring and analysing
medium-term impact of 1986 collapse in oil prices;
- analysis of impact of
different tax regimes on incentives to oil and gas
producers;
- introduction of new computer
systems to speed up provision of data and to widen the
range of outputs from the results of surveys.
